The default key for jumping in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is the space key. However, players often look for other solutions and settings that allow them to play even more comfortably. One popular solution in CS:GO is the wheel jump bind, or mouse wheel jump bind. What is this bind, and how can you use it?
Wheel jump is used because many players find it more convenient. During the game, reaching for the space bar, which is a bit far from the other control keys, may not be the most comfortable.
Using the scroll wheel to jump in CS:GO, on the other hand, is a very interesting and also more convenient solution. CS:GO players are used to using the scroll wheel to switch between weapons, but some players have opted out in favor of jumping with scroll wheel. You'll want to find out for yourself which is more comfortable for you: mousewheel jump or jumping with the space bar.
There is another important advantage to mousewheel jumping. Many CS:GO players believe that scrolling makes bunnyhopping easier. While you'll find plenty of opinions like this online, we recommend testing both options to see which is more efficient.
Using mouse scroll to perform wheel jumps is possible thanks to bind. A bind is a combination of several CS:GO console commands to cause a specific action. In this case, three commands are combined together.
To perform a wheeljump in Counter-Strike, this bind is used: bind "mwheelup" "+jump"; bind "mwheeldown" "+jump"; bind "space" "+jump". You may notice that this will allow you to jump during the game, both by pressing the space bar and by moving the mouse scroll up and down. If you want to jump for example only by moving the mouse scroll up, the bind should look like this: bind "mwheelup" "+jump".
The above bind jump should be pasted into the console, but in this case you have to remember to paste it there every time you start Counter-Strike. A more practical and permanent solution is to paste the bind into your config. In that case, use the following command sequence that will let you jump with both, space bar and mouse scroll wheel:
bind "mwheelup" "+jump"
bind "mwheeldown" "+jump"
bind "space" "+jump"
The choice of how you jump in CS:GO is an individual matter. Will you go for the classic space bar bind, or will you decide to experiment with the mousewheel jump bind? Regardless of which option you choose, it's a good idea to try out both while you're playing Counter-Strike. That way, you'll see for yourself which you're more comfortable with.
